Here's a little update folks...

Maybe because of the "feedback" Killington received from not responding to the Alpine Zone Challenge, Dave Rathbun responded to at least some of the questions in the Killington Zone forum (www.killingtonzone.com). This began an e-mail exchange that has resulted in Killington agreeing to participate on a regular basis in a new and separate forum on Killington Zone called "Ask Killington". We now have both Dave Rathbun, VP Marketing, and Tom Horrocks, Communications Manager, participating. The new forum got up and running yesterday. We're playing it by ear and feeling our way along at the moment as to how best to keep things manageable but I consider it a good start to a better relationship between the mountain and at least some of its core customers.

Why did you think it had no chance? The culture of the board or an expectation that answers from K would be worthless spin?

I thought it had no chance because the new forum would get loaded with ridiculous questions/commentary. I figured K would get tired of filtering through the crap and just say screw it.

The answers so far have been good. Especially the one about snowmaking capacity, but the new forum is already getting cluttered with repeat questions and comments. Probably should be having this discussion at kzone.

Yeah, we know. We already posted a note about trying to keep things simple. I figure there will be lots of questions early on, then things might calm down a bit. Of course, once the season starts, there will be new stuff to ask/challenge/whine (choose one) about.
