To start, cold as a witches tit out there and as the day progressed, only got worse. Started out about 9:30 AM, was in no rush as the temps at opening were around -5 degrees. By 9:30 went up to about 5 degrees, we skied until about 2:30PM and in that time temps went to about 6 degrees, but wind also increase. Not sure about exact wind and temps, but my guess is that by the time we left wind chill had to be about -5. Now for the good part, this had to be the sweetest day yet this season.
When we started it wasn't bad at all about 5 degrees, but no wind and partly cloudy skis. Since my wife is still working on getting her confidence back I decided to stick to intermediate trails all day. We started on Ramshead did a few laps then worked our way over to the North Ridge Area and a few laps over there then over to Skye Peak. Pretty much covered all the Blue runs in those areas. Probably by about 11, both of butts started freezing from sitting on the ice cubes that were acting as lifts today. We were both thinking a few more quick runs and we'd get going. Just wasn't' going to happen, those couple more runs turned into a couple more hours. We were enjoying ourselves way to much. Today, with the chill, Killington was a ghost town, no lift lines, no scraped off trails. The longest line we experienced all day was at the gondola and that was about 2 minutes. All other lifts had no wait, felt like we were skiing Plattekill all day. My wife did great today, looked as closest she's been to her old form since her accident over two years ago. Not only could I see she was enjoying herself, it was she that didn't want to quit. Yeah it was cold, yeah we froze our asses off, but the best day of the season thus far!
