Does Killington suck? Or will we have a good time -- spending the whole week there this week.:spread:

Next week. We chose it based on the '3000 vertical, but now I find out 2/3 of that is inflated, and those bastards only have '1000 vertical, which screams midwest. I don't want to drive 12 hours for that garbage.....but we're already locked in.

Killington is a good place...Mid week it will be great, I will be there all this week as well. Its WAY better then anything in the midwest!!! Vert is only one aspect of a MT. Ski Outer Limits all day and you won't want 3k vert.

Nice attitude....

Serves you right for planning a trip based on a vertical stat. ;) Seriously though - many of the Killington trail pods are in the 1,500' range. Plenty of pitch and variety for all abilities. If you're already locked in, what's the issue?

Where do you normally ski? If it's midwest, I can guarantee Killington has plenty of challenge for you and your rad friends. BTW, are you this guy?

No - I'm from Michigan. Anyways, we probably should have picked Sugarbush, but we booked a hotel while playing around on priceline's name your own price feature. (3star for 40 bucks a night - can't beat that).

That's a good deal. You'll have a good time. Enjoy.

Thanks - we're excited, but the '1000 vertical is kind of demoralizing.

Where are you getting this "1000' vertical" thing?

It's not 1000 vertical feet......you can get 3000 feet in a run, but the catch is that will have to take more than one lift to do that run again.

Also, Killington has more than enough terrain to keep you occupied for while....you'll have a good time. The Canyon and OL/DF are some of the steepest stuff there, and should definitely challenge you. Vertigo and Conclusion too.

Agree on Vertigo, looks pretty sweet from the pictures I've seen.

OL doesn't really intrigue me, as it looks pretty short,

OL's not short....around 1200 feet of vertical, and usually some great bumps.

killington is a real good choice if your going to spend a week at one mountain. ski the steeps off k1 midweek and your legs will probably be screaming by the bottom. lot's of trail pods, plenty of vert. maybe take the drive to sugarbush for the day (it's not that far), good drinking town also.

You won't be dissapointed. If I wasn't from the area and I booked a week somewhere, it would be either Sugarbush or Killington. You won't be bored...

Try to stick a top to bottom line nonstop and then tell me it's short. Not sure where you're getting your information; I hope it's not the trail map...

I dont get the complex on the short vertical? Especially being from the midwest - VT actually has mountains, unlike the undulating plain that they build a ski slope in a ravine and claim 600 ft vertical. The poconos in PA claim 1000 ft vertical, and trust me Killington skis 5X bigger. Vertical is not the only factor in run lenght and skiable experience, remember that, it has alot to do with the lay of the land, not the random mole hills that are the midwest. If you are hung up on vert why are you coming to VT anyways, go to Whistler!!

The gondola from the main base lodge is 1700' or so. It's not hard to do 1500' laps off various lifts.

Sugarbush is about an hour away, so it would be easy to do a side trip there.

I don't think you'll be disappointed with the vertical unless your home mountain is Jackson Hole or something.

And why not hit Sugarbush for a day. Do you already have tickets? If so, K will not bore you. Try Devils Fiddle and Outer Limits. If those bore you, you're pretty damn good.
