Anyone know if the Skyeship replacement cabins coming for next season will be individually painted with different designs, like the current ones are ? It would be a shame if they were all the same.

Definitely not like the '94 cabins. That lift was state of the art and the pride and joy at the time, they are going to be the same as K1.

I get that the cabins needed to be replaced, but it is a choice to not get some local artists to paint the new cabins. I guess the current cabin colors are viewed as dated like 80s neon jumpsuits ? That’s a bummer, the current cabins add a nice splash of color to the landscape IMO - bet they will fetch a pretty penny if they get auctioned off…

Wsan't that also around the time they (and most any ASC resort back then) also got a bunch of Bombardier groomers with a similar pant job? "Stealth Cats" is I believed what they called them if my memory is correct!

Killington Ski Resort, Vermont – Skyeship Gondola – 1994
Skyeship Gondola provides access from an alternate base area to the main ski area and the bulk of the terrain offered here. This gondola has a midway unload/load station and then continues to the top of Skye Peak at 3,800 feet above sea level. This gondola was erected by Leitner-Poma with 29 towers on the lower section and 21 towers on the upper section, with an impressive total of 50 support towers in total.

Riding Skyeship the other day, I reflected on exactly this topic - that is, how 90s the cabins are and how what was once a state of the art lift is now so decrepit. I do think a tribute to the colors would be rad.

The new Superstar 6 should open in early December, World Cup moves to Copper next season for likely just a year, Spring skiing ops mainly out in the Canyon area. Last chance to ride the current Superstar HSQ id Sunday, April 13th, the chairs on the current SS lift will be recyclyed over to The Golden Express at Pico

In other news...part of the spring schedule is keeping the Gondy open till May 11th this year. They said even after Superstar lift (and trail) closes they will still keep Launch Pad open to access stuff on that side which is cool.

After May 11th, they will move to Snowdon Triple, North Ridge Quad, and Canyon Quad which is a pretty solid plan.
