Weโ€™ve got some good news, Beast family,

Weโ€™re kicking off the 2025/26 winter season with a record number of trails this Wednesday, November 12th! Opening Day will be reserved exclusively for Killington Winter 2025/26, Beast 365, and Ikon Pass holders. The Beast will open to the general public on Thursday. Please note that early season conditions exist, and skiing and snowboarding will be on advanced terrain only. Beginner terrain is not available at this time.

The K-1 Express Gondola and North Ridge Quad will offer access to Great Northern, Downdraft Headwall, Rime, Reason, and Upper East Fall, with ski and ride access down to North Ridge via Upper Great Northern. Walking will be required on the Peak Walkway to exit skiable terrain and download the K-1 Gondola. Both lifts will operate daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (weather permitting) The last load on the K-1 Gondola will be at 3:30 p.m., with the final run to North Ridge at 3:45 p.m. while we await top-to-bottom skiing and riding. Conditions are shaping up fast though, so it doesnโ€™t look like weโ€™ll be waiting long before weโ€™re linking turns

NWS has K Peak below freezing for the next 168 hours with a couple decent shots of natural thrown in. Could be really good this time next week. Might have to buy a day ticket next Tuesday.

KZone reporting that guns are running down to the bubble so we may see that this weekend. Really considering paying to play on Sunday. Even looks like a potential powder day so if there's a potential for some nats then hell yeah I'm in.

I want to go at some point this weekend but it's also deer season and I'm sure it's going to be a mad house. This year proved how much the world cup takes away from the skiing public, I really hope it never comes back.

NWS still has anything above 3k feet remaining below freezing for the next 7 days. Wonder if they make a run for the Canyon early next week if this continues.

What exactly was โ€œtaken awayโ€ from you that has been restored this year ? The only change from last yearโ€™s opening I can see is the addition of Downdraft Headwall ? And with all the new snow guns and pipe repairs Iโ€™m not sure even that one additional trail segment can be attributed solely to the lack of a World Cup.

With the world cup we were skiing on north ridge with the stairs for 3 weeks ,this year they'll be top to bottom in the first week. It's a huge snowmaking effort for that race. I know there not ge rid of it but I can hope. They did say they hope to do it every other year with copper mtn. I think opening day last year was only great northern to rime and reason, there's quite a few more trails this year

Yup, running full Low E gear on all the trails this year has nothing to do with it ๐Ÿค”

If I recall, last year, to be able to pass snow control for the races, there was a bunch of very marginal weather temp wise mid month, to the point where down low near Preston's Pitch they had some old air hogs, basically maxing out on air, to make snow when the air temp was in the mid to upper 30's (with very low humidity)... Highly doubt that if the weather was like that now, you'd see K putting that much effort and $$ into making a limited amount of snow down low.

Think this year is a combo of quite favorable temps, an enhanced system and a bunch of new equipment up in North Ridge

Of course using low e makes a big difference but they use a huge amount of resources for the world cup
Yes they do, but none of us have seen a WC build along with all the new low-e gear they have now. Last season they had half the low e gear they have now and have done other work in the offseason as well. Next year will tell the story if it all makes a big difference, assuming we have semi-normal or below temps on the lead in.

Sounds like North Ridge is having problems this morning. Stopped for a while and now the report is that they're evac'ing and not letting anyone go back down Rime right now. Webcam shows people still coming up the chair but no one going down.

That lift is way too new to have the issues that it does.
