kmart cutting jobs

WCAX just reported that Powdr/SP is cutting 70 jobs, exact number unconfimed, at kmart as well as more jobs at their other resorts. Being the summer I would assume 70 jobs represents a pretty big chunk and would include some fulltime/yearround staff.

That was stated on KZone earlier today....same thing...several people got last paycheck and "goodbye." No two weeks notice, nothing.

When people said Powdr runs a lean and mean operation they weren't kidding.

My understanding is that people were let go with no notice - told today, gone today - but they received the severance they are entitled to and outplacement services. Many companies take that route these days - essentially walking laid off staff to the door the same day they're told.

I just read the WCAX story and it doesn't mention the other resorts part....only says Killington is laying off folks.

Lets see what this season brings but it looks like it might now be Sugarbush and Wildcat.

Just read through the K-zone treads. Looks like a real bloodbath over there. Got to feel bad for the guys who lost there jobs. They were also saying that the Ambassador program was axed. Does anyone know if that is true?
