I just put my name in for Sunday, August 10th. Heading up Saturday and staying overnight in a hotel or condo. I believe 2knees and a couple guys from the mogul forum are going. Just let me know if anyone else wants to go. Leanne suggested a max. group size of 8.

Well....the trip was fun, but didn't go quite as planned. I drove up with a friend of mine who wasn't hitting the ramps. We swung by the Dowsers Convention (WTF?) at Killington on the way out:

We met up with dabiglabowski2001 from the mogul forums (all the way from Maryland) and stayed at a sketchy place. The $56 price should have been a clue.

The weather started out perfect:

Too bad I did this on the third run:

After lunch the weather changed:

They had to cut the day short because of thunder and lightning. Unfortunately that is when we were planning on taking pictures, so I don't have squat.

Just a shot of some damage in central VT from the recent rain:

I wish the facility was a little closer because it is a blast. I'm going to be feeling it tomorrow though.

We were only there on Sunday. I'm so sore, I don't think I could have handled a second day.

First you need the USSA rookie membership for $60.

Use of the ramps is $18 for the day and coaching is $50.

We had a tentative schedule of:

8:00-10:00 Trampolines
10:00-12:00 Ramp

1:00-2:30 Trampolines
2:30-4:00 Ramp

We missed out on the afternoon session due to weather, but managed to get ~15 jumps in the morning.

It was pretty ugly. Lack of photographic evidence may be a good thing.

At one point I was wheezing in the pool with the wind knocked out of me.

Other than dabiglabowski, the oldest kid there was probably 17.

(2knees, the pool is open into October......:-D)

I will have video soon from Iceman's (my sons) camp. I was there all day friday and got a lot of footage.

He was working on doing a back flip on the ramps all week but didn't get around to doing it. The coaches didn't want him to do it yet (although he does it great on the tramps).

On Friday afternoon (his last ramp session) I think he really wanted to try one for me and I saw him talking to one of the coaches. He must have still said no because the next thing I see him crying. I trust the coaches judgement and am fine with not getting to see him do one. After all he's only 11 and has plenty of time to try one next summer. Actually he's not really allowed to do inverts being a B competitor in the moguls so it would only be for the benefit of the ramps anyway.

here's my 1st pass at some video from Friday. My sons 8 jumps. No inverts but some decent spinning.

Impressive that a few days back he was timid in even going off the thing into the pool and now 720's

Yeah, well he admitted to me on Friday that the phone call Monday night where he was crying and complaining that he was only able to do straight airs was a little misleading for 2 reasons:

1) The biggest problem was he was homesick (he had already been away for a week prior at Stowe adventure camp

2) The whole team was limited to straight airs for the first day, by the coaches.

So it was just a big false alarm.

He was crying again friday afternoon because he had asked the coach if he could try a back flip (I think he wanted to show me that he could do it) and apparently the coach said no. Which is perfectly OK with me, as he has a few years before he moves up to the A's anyway. Its all good.

Looks like I'll be there on 8/30. They are going to let me tag along with the Stratton mogul team.

Dude...who invited the old man?

after watching some of the pretty sick airs thrown down at yesterday's bust and burn, I got thinking about this thread.

I might be down to go make an ass of myself for a day this summer.

Iceman ramps

Latest video of camp that just ended on Sunday. He's over-rotating his back tuck. I (and the coaches) think he should start doing a back lay, it would slow his rotation.

He lost his skis a bunch of times and doesn't have the nads to dive down 15 feet to retrieve them. He has to beg his teammates to do it for him. So for the afternoon session I used shoelaces to tie them onto his boots. For the next camp I'm gonna fashion something nicer (Snowprincess is going on 7/20 for her 1st time)
