nlmasopust, the user that lurks and never posts (my skiing bud) took a lesson at SR last week. One for steep groomers and an introductory bump lesson. He's a better bump skier than introductory, but he was with a group that wasn't so much. I sent him the link to Dipiro's blog, and apparently everything in Dan's last post about instructors being totally focused on turning technique in the moguls and not over all mogul technique held true for his instructors at SR. Quite interesting.

I took a 2 day bump clinic once and didnt even see a bump until after lunch on the second day. all we did on day 1 was learn how make 3 turns in the distance it would take to make 1 turn. when we did hit the bumps, he taught us how to pick out the good lines from the crap. I remember being so pissed that that was the clinic. I hated it like hell while I was taking the class. But turns out the instructor was dead on teaching us that. I went to Jackson Hole a few weeks later and bang! the whole thing just clicked.

Austin,
they had no new snow for like a week or something. you had no choice. besides a little groomer stripe down each; rendezvous, laramie, cheyenne, and tensleep were top to bottom, side to side bumps. 75% of the place was bumped up. it was bizarre to say the least. that was my first trip out there. I never found it like that again. it was life altering.
