Check out this vid BeastEd posted on YouTube:

That is radical! 8) I started skiing in the mid-90's at the advanced age of 20 and used to gape my way down Outer Limits and Superstar. Guys like these were inspiring. 14 years later and I still can't rip like that, but I have fun trying. Bring back the spread, twister and daffy!
:daffy: :spread:

I don't care what anyone says, old school bumpin' is still cool. I need to buy some neon.

i really dont care what anyone says. For me, that style of bump skiing is by far more entertaining to watch then the current form. thats the style i tried so hard to emmulate and failed so miserably. It does take an awful toll on the body though. no way around that.

Oh, it is. Too bad so many mountains opt to groom the piss out of everything nowadays.

I know you're hurting from those years of bashing. Do you think more damage was done due to that style of skiing, or landing those airs?

everything is cyclical. although with the explosion in the popularity of tree skiing, it may be a long time before bump skiing is on the top of the recreational skiers to do list.

My damage has just been accumulated over the years. the airs shouldnt have been a big deal but i have some torn cartiledge and some has been removed. a bucket tear in the miniscus. these things dont like big impacts so they get pissed off and bite back.

To paraphrase from plake, you can buy wide sticks for powder and curvy ones for the groomers but you can't buy them for the moguls, you have to earn it. And it shows, once you're out there in the bump field... there is no hiding.

Most of the places I ski keep a nmber of runs ungroomed including Stowe, Sugarbush, MRG. Belleayre, Jackson Hole, and even Barneys Bumps at Blue...You were at Okemo and found good bumps and that appeals to intermediates. Also realize that a good percentage of skiers are aging baby boomers who prefer groomers..and they're the ones with the money for on mountain condos and who don't mind paying retail for parabolics..lol

But my skinny race skis are way better in the bumps than my wider 88mm skis...

If you're good in the bumps, you can ski them on any shape. Same holds for pow and groomers. However, with the wide sticks and curvy shapes, it makes them easier for the newbies and the large market share of skiers .

In the bumps, there isn't a shortcut.

No short-cut..but wide twin tips are more effort in tight bumps than short carvers...and short carvers are more effort in powder than wide twin tips..der der der..:argue:

Virgin Moguls

1207664800MogulsonEgo.JPG

Seeded, virgin moguls on Ego Alley are softening up and awaiting your bumping.

The NBA & NFL have the “chest” bump.
Gated communities have “speed” bumps.
The 70’s had the “butt bump” during the disco era.
And today we can say that Elia has perfected the “seeded bump.”

What is a seeded bump? It’s a mogul created by groomers and then perfected by skiers.

Ego Alley a trail most known for its rolling mounds and normally where you can find our alpine training center teams has been turned into a giant mogul field for all you spring bump enthusiasts out there.

The moguls will only improve as skiers mash into the mounds so what are you waiting for? I know it isn’t the weather because tomorrow is going to be the best spring day we have seen yet. Temps are forecasted to reach the 60 degree mark! When was the last day we saw 60? Try October.

Ripcord opened back up today as Luke was here on his day off just to ride down our 37 degree double black diamond mogul legend. With temps expected to reach the mid 50s today, and highs near 60 degrees on tomorrow, it’s safe to say that Ripcord will remain open through the week.

Another mountain gets it.
