I do like what they did with the WC bump runs this year, extending the length between the two kickers. That's a long stretch of bumps where you have to stay focused and have good technique. Yeah, the bottom section isn't rough, but ever since I've started bump skiing I'd take the last few a lot faster than the rest of the field; it's just for those guys, the last few is all of the bumps after the last kicker. And once it gets worked in that way in practice and prelims, the trough just gets straighter and straighter.

"the bump comps on TV now make me laugh at what is supposidly called skiing"
So, exactly what did you mean?

It reminds me of the old ballet competition. There is timing involved but I'm not a fan of judged events.Too much room for interpretation.I guess I prefer seeing skiers make turns by carving.I dunno,I guess I think they look silly that's all.You would probably kick my butt in the bumps Gregg and I would probably do the same in pow or high speed cranking. It's all good.to each his own.

They are carving. Tails are following tips. It just happens too fast to see it. An extremely small arc, is still an arc, and that is still carving.

Lets just say for the sake of the argument that bump skiing becomes really "cool "again .. I can see it now threads talking about how crowded the bumps are now .. all those gapers trying to impress people with their semi bump skills. Be careful of what you wish for .. you just might get it.

That was the first thought to cross my mind. I like it that I can do it decently, but the vast majority of skiers think it's too hard to even try; makes me look good and keeps my favorite trails less crowded. There are already enough people out there that just don't get that, if a skier's waiting for someone to get out of the line, it really isn't cool to jump in and start criss crossing right in front of him.

I maintain it is still cool, but in a "look what those guys can do" sort of way. Makes my limited skills all the more impressive.

Nah...I really don't think the majority of the ski population has any interest in putting in the effort, time and dedication required to ski bumps well.

And if they do, the demand for more mogul fields will increase. Better for the weekday warriors like me!
