My friend was pleasantly surprised that Mt. Sunapee
lowered their renewal pricing of season pass for
2005/2006 by $120 and $20 something for non-renewal
purchase.

Has anybody encountered something similar at other
mountains? As far as I remember nothing ever get
cheaper for skiing in New England. I hope this is
a new trend.

fwiw, cannon lowered both their in state and out of state season pass rates for the current ski season and they are state owned. though i think they liked recovered the loss in revenue of the cheaper pass through increased sales. with ASC and Booth Creek offering super low passes, the need to be competitive may see other ski areas developing this trend. however, most ski areas offer a very different product than these resort chains and are not directly competitive from them.

the interesting thing to see is if the ASC super duper low season pass price will back fire on them in the long run. time will tell.

The Booth Creek Threedom pass went up about $20 dollars to $457. Kids went up $30 to 229. Still both cheap, but getting close to some others. there are Grumblings are that the bronze pass ASC will remain $349. If So I'll buy that one again also. Cost of fuel has to have an effect on show making and operational cost. I see a trend for more mid week deals, but passes and weekend tickets I think will keep going up.

fyi-Okemo is offering a season pass at $499 if you buy before 4/30 with 16 holiday dates blacked out. it;s good at Sunapee and Stratton.

sounds intriguing. perhaps we are going to have a new prioe war, but this one looks like it will benefit skiers for a change.
