Wouldn't exactly put that as going and down... Burke dropped $1 and Wachusett $3, but MRG and Sunapee both up 2 so that list evens out.

not exactly a statistically valid sample either. I can hope! :dunce:

with inflation at essentially zero, they've got balls to raise the $

I can't believe MRG charges $66 with no snowmaking, little grooming, cheap lifts, and few base amenities...

Yeah that does seem kind of expensive, though as a midweek skier 39 is very reasonable. Quite a big gap in price!

not exactly comparing apples to apples here, but not too far off.
I benchmark the holiday peak prices here. Regular weekend is 62. Holiday is 66.
I think the 39 reflects the market reality. I suspect most of the shareholders ski weekend regularly. The place is probably pretty dead midweek (cepting a pow day) and they have to compete with Sugarbush right down the road for the midweek crowd. With no "convenient" lodging onsite, I suspect the lower the price is the only way.

Sheesh, not but a few years ago, we could also get a Canon ticket at basement prices.

the grooming aspect is a + and clientele not all that concerned with base amenities

I didn't say that. I said $66 is too expensive for an area which barely has any expenses of that sort.

Believe it's the same: $39 if purchased by Nov. 1st. After Nov. 1, price increases to $49 and the Lift Ticket is not included

Lift ticket prices probably should be going down. Isn't the current inflation rate for 2009 at negative 1.5%? This could be a year of deflation. Lots of companies have cut salaries.

I can't believe it either. Best deal in New England and most under priced lift ticket for what you get. MRG could easily get closer to the $70 mark and still be a fair price for the product and not loss skier visits due to cost.

There may be more factors in play than market rate. Perhaps charge a high rate to keep the riff-raff out and preserve the weekends for the shareholders?
The factor at play is that the coop never knows if it is going to be in the red or the black at the end of the year and has had some tough years. Despite the lack of amenities, MRG still has expenses and a lot fewer skier visits compared to the big resorts. It has nothing to do with snow preservation or shareholders wanting better snow.... shareholders have to pay too and don't get much of a discount.

What important expense that most in here are forgetting about is debt payments if the resort has financed capital improvements in the last few years. Another is a downturn in skier visits that many of the large resorts have experienced in recent years which means a decrease in revenue.

I think it's more than "perhaps". With a 600 per hour single chair, I know how I'd vote at the co-op meeting.
