ps: your choice of UT. resorts for April wouldn't be my choices (remember altitude). Just saying.

Snowbird + Alta?

Looking at a graph, the top elevations dont seem to be dramatically different at all, but I do see a 1100 - 1500 or so foot difference in base elevation (6600 - 6900 vs. 7750 - 8500) for those two over the Park City spots. Is that really a substantial difference in terms of snow preservation?

Yes base elevation makes a difference but more importantly look at the difference in annual average snowfall. That has a lot to do with base elevation. I'd hang out in either BCC, LCC or both.

Also that base elevation for Snowbird is misleading. That's the elevation at the bottom of the Baby Thunder lift which is much lower than the rest of the resort. Guess they just list it to increase their vertical drop.

Significant difference in base elevation.

One thing to be aware of in Utah. Even though the mountains do not shut down, the transportation routes do. (ie. if staying in the valley you will need a car). The past 2 seasons I ended my year with double digit powder days. Utah in April has been very good to me.
