BobR might be able to chime in on this one, but I think you might be looking at a couple of hours from Lincoln to SR.

BW from Lincoln is probably about 45 minutes, up 3 to 302 east. Not sure what type of skier you are, but I don't think it's worth the ride. From Lincoln, I would rather go 20 minutes to Cannon. If you have kids in tow, then maybe it would be worth it. BW is a very family-friendly mountain.

In winter? Probably count on at least 40 minutes crossing the Kanc.

or would going up 3 to 2 be faster (if it's open).
To North Conway? No. To SR? No idea. Bob R knows.

And how far is Bretton Woods from Lincoln?
Probably 30 minutes

Depends on what type of terrain you're looking for. BW is a great family cruising mountain.

The Common Man in Lincoln is good too. Gordi's was pretty good. All kid-friendly.

All of the places I've eaten at in the Lin/Wood area have been good, the Station (Woodstock Inn) is our favorite with the Common Man being second. The Common Man is closer to Loon, but they don't have their own brewery like the Station does. Its pretty cool, you can sit right next to the big vats of beer in the lower bar.

Brettski. 35 miles on the Kanc from Loon to end of Kanc on conway side.. A few more miles after that to Cranmore.
Loon to Cranmore is about 1.15 to 1.5 hours total, slow beautiful ride.
From Loon to Sunday River is 1.45. I do it alot. Some say 1.5 I think they must drive faster than me.

I go up to the River Friday nights ski till about 2 on sat and head meet my Buds at Loon.

Kickstand does the North Conway to Sunday River sometimes, my ride has been about 50 min in the past, when I leave from Downtown. (Funny downtown North Conway).
Pm me if you want more info.
My opinions are Ga2ski has the best info on SR. Terry and Kickstand are excelent reference on North Conway in General. Greg Charlie and I have Loon covered well.

You have plenty of time to over plan.

Edit missed one. BrettonWoods from Loon about a 1/2 hour. Pm me on specific routes.

They'd probably be very close timewise...it's just the Notch slows you down before you hit 3 and head to Route 2. Both Routes 2 and 3 are fast roads.

And how far is Bretton Woods from Lincoln?

Is it worth the trip?

Well, it is about 30-45 mins from Loon. What do you like to ski? Who is skiing? I won't demonize Bretton Woods and give them a fair shake...used to ski there a bit before it changed. BW has a lot of easy cruisers and mellow glades. Nothing incredible steep, though Deception Bowl and Sly Fox are kind of tricky at times. In terms of variety, there isn't too much...cruisers and mellow glades. They were working on adding more expert stuff on Mount Stickney, but that hasn't come to fruition quite yet. Only 1500 vert and pretty pricy for that amount IMHO unless you go midweek.

If you like Sunday River, you will probably like Bretton Woods, but the latter is not quite as good though not as big and there is not as much variety. I really like Sunday River...it is pretty hard to beat.

i would vote for 3 to 2 as well. 2 is pretty straight going west whereas the kanc is windy and dangerous in bad weather. then north conway and route 16 through pinkham are slower going north than 93/3 which is a painless drive. relative time savings may not be huge (i have no experience), but mentally the 3 to 2 option would make me feel happier as a driver.

In defense of Bretton Woods, the Rosebrook Canyon glades are quite interesting and are a nice addition to the mountain. The rest of the place is like a flattened version of Okemo.

Not sure how long going across the Kanc takes. If you go that way take route 302 to route 5 to Route 2.

I take the same route Ga2ski uses every time.
302 route is slower. Kanc route through
North Conway to Sunday river is the longest and slowest way .

Looked over Burke some more though....where do you park?

I'm guessing it makes sense to go up the mountain...looks like a bigger version of Belleayre....plus I need a Burke sticker for the rack

I think 1 day at Burke, 1 day at the river 1 day at Cannon, and 2 days at Loon.

I mean, I'm slopeside at Loon.....

It's really the only way to get from the East side (Mountain Club/Gondola) to the West side (Kanc Quad). I like Loon a lot, but for newcomers, this base layout kind of stinks.

We stay at the MCL for a week every season. Our usual approach is to start on the gondola if you can get there first thing and the line is not too long. The other (and more typically followed) option is to ride the Seven Brothers Triple up. We may take a few laps on that and then head over to the Kanc quad. Once it gets busy over there, make a dash to North Peak. Some folks prefer to hit North Peak first thing to avoid the crowds. If you're skiing mid-week, either approach works fine. After first tracks, we usually avoid the gondola. Last season they didn't run the Basin Double mid-week. That's a good weekend option for reaching the summit if the North Peak quad is busy.

I went to go from Loon to Sunday River this April, ended up spinning my car off the Kangamangus. Fun time.

Story posted here.

Ya you screwed up the SR gathering. Ga2ski and I took care of it. That was a bad deal. You did not have a good year with cars. Brettski that time of year the train will only be running on the weekend. They do have a shuttle that goes from lodge to lodge.
I always park on the kanc side. I prefer hanging out on that side for lunch and apres ski.. If you are staying slopside stay on Gondi side of the mountain.
