My family tradition for Thanksgiving weekend has been to ski with family after, of course, the huge meal that piles on the calories.

This year is looking bleak. My own sense has told me that there was little chance of getting cold temps, snowmaking and mother nature in sync to deliver the goods, but my conversations yesterday with resort insiders has confirmed.
Yuck!
Not likely to ski for a few more weeks.
Can I live vicariously through those of you who have snow?
I'll keep reading your TR's and crossing my fingers. I have to smell snow in the air soon............right?

Funny how that is the case this year. Competion has helped us all. I only got out for a 1/2 day Sat, but very happy to make turns. Seems like the River is getting ticket buyers as well, not just pass holders.

Stowe, Sugrabush, Jay, Okemo, Mt. Snow, Killington, Sunday River and 'the Loaf' are all looking good for turkey day skiing.

Stowe is particular has a very nice video of opening day, Saturday, 11/17 on their website. If you read their trial report it simply says one trail top-to-bottom and you could think thats all, why bother. But a look at the short video and conds on Mt. Mansfield are looking fine, makes me want to dirve right on up there.

I noticed that yesterday also Bob. That is good to see for the mountain. Was busy but with more terrain open, were spread out more. Was not to bad.

Funny, I was at Mt Snow on the 11th and 18th and both days it was far less crowded that I was expecting. On the 11th I thought it might just be too early, but yesterday I was really surprised. I don't think I was ever on Chute with more than 5 other skiers, top to bottom. It did get a little crowded around the top of the summit chair, but once you started skiing down things thinned out just fine.

Anyways, I hope all this early season snowmaking works out for them, because it's pretty awesome for me, obviously.
