What type of lodging you looking for? Going mid-week or weekend?

for a thursday thru sat. night. i dont need anything other then a floor to crash on but i'm not the type that b&b's would appreciate for 3 days.

Hostel style lodging available at Grampa Grunts in Montgomery. Significantly closer to Jay than Smuggs, though. College crowd is known to over run the place on a weekend but I have enjoyed a somewhat quiet stay there mid-week on a non-powder day. So if you don't mind the longer drive to Smuggs and the possibility of a lot of noise Friday and Saturday, it is dirt cheap.

Johnson or Morrisville would be about a midpoint...there's a days inn on 15 in morisville, as well as some B and Bs....not sure about Johnson, other then B and Bs.

There's a fairly new La Quinta Inn just south of St Albans on I-89 with an indoor pool. We used it to ski Smugglers 2 years ago. Was maybe 30 minutes north of Smuggs. Can't be too much further to Jay. Clean and efficient and not too hard on the wallet.
