Hit loon both friday and saturday this weekend. Had planned to go to cannon saturday but we were staying with a bunch of my wife's family and they had bought 2 day passes to loon online so it was ski cannon alone and be rude or ski loon on saturday with them. Good people so i chose to ski with company.

Friday was cold as snot to start, left the kids at home to let it warm up a little and got about 4 runs off of the Kanc. quad. found a tree stash on the lower mtn that was a bit crusty but almost untouched. after the kids showed up, I skied of the kissin cousins double for a few hours with them. they were diggin the little tree run setup for kids. Luckily for me, you could hit lower speakeasy (think that was it) which was bumped up on the left side. nice lines, firm, but it kept my interest while the kids went down the other way. after they bailed, i met up with a few of the others on the north peak. flume was bumped up on each side, one catted, the other natty. middle groomed. also good was rolling bear and even walking boss, although groomed, was fast with nice snow. almost felt like i was carving.

saturday was warmer and it was just myself and my brother in law who boards. we checked out most of the place including south peak. the steeper run over there is a real screamer. fast as hell. hit the marked trees and while i enjoyed the bumped woods, my boarder friend did not. after that, we headed back over to the main area to check out a shot we had seen on friday. definitely cut by locals and definitely NOT what people would ever expect when they think of loon. while it was played out, it was still a total blast. More of a collection of chutes then a tree run, but lots of drops, twists, logs and steeps. very tight too. There were a ton of options off it but we only hit one due to meeting up with my wifes uncle. after that, hit flume bumps a bunch and some cruisers.

great snow, good vibe which i was surprised with and that tree run we found definitely raised the pulse more then anything i would have ever expected at loon. Cannon will have to wait till next weekend.

You're not a real skier. Should've blown off the family and went to Cannon...

Seriously, glad you enjoyed Loon. I haven't been in years. It was at Loon that I first got exposed to bumps in a big way. They used to offer a lot of seeded runs which I don't think they do much of anymore for some reason. I remember soon cool trees at Loon too.

obviously i'm not, i ski at sundown!

overall, the place is geared towards families and cruising but the bumps on flume and the stash we found really kept me interested. I'm shocked i've never heard a peep about that run online before. it was like rumble on steroids. all the marked tree runs are really really thinned out.

It was really good today...no crowds and lift lines were minimal. I stuck to the blues with the spouse today and they were in real nice shape. I don't ski bumps (although I do try on occasion) but I noticed several trails with bumps on them, including a blue with some lower angle bumps.

Yeah, I'm upset I missed out... but my body needed the sleep...

Oh well... there'll be more days.

Where was the video shot?

I saw some of a trail called Undercut at South Peak under the lift...looked like an interesting natural/woods run (and well beyond my skill level).

Do they groom Ripsaw? I didn't have a chance to skid down it but sounds like it would be interesting.

first trees are from south peak. I think undercut is the name. It comes down under the lift with a few drops and then bangs a left into the trees. I'd be willing to bet you could easily handle it. its very spaced out in there. Ripsaw, i'm assuming, is what they have listed as a double black? if so, yes it was groomed and alot of fun. only "steep" part is right after a little tree island, then it just goes on and on with a nice pitch. fast and fun. the 3 sequences of trees before the bumps are the off map run we found. again, i cant say how surprised i was to find that at loon.

I skied Loon 1/2 day on Sunday due to some family obligations. skied Flume Walking Boss, agnel St, Flying fox, picked rock and then the Nastar coarse. Picked was the best, followed by Walking Boss. Cold first thing, but got quite comfortable by late morning. Nastar was a little more difficult that I expected.

Sorry we missed you...we were over by the Kancamagus quad for a while in the AM and ventured over to South Peak for a run down Cruiser after lunch.

Sweet non-POV video. Those bumps look nice!

Looks like you ended up with some good snow. Only times I've been to Loon it's been a sheet of ice. Not literally I suppose.

Nah Non-POV video sucks:razz:

Looks like there's some good stuff over there. Loon has never really been on my radar before. I still don't think I would be dying to get there as I would rather go to Cannon but if I got "stuck" there with a group its good to kno0w I could ahve some fun. glad you had a good trip and the kids had fun.
