Trip Report: So today I made it up north what looks to be the last trip for me of the season. While I REALLY wanted to hit the AZ summit, because of stupid other obligations for tomorrow, I settled for a little Loon action. First I want to tip my hat to the snow makers who blew snow this past week, the trails that got love like Picked Rock, were just AWESOME... I mean really really awesome.

Basically, I got on the hill by 9:30ish and skied straight to 2pm until my legs started to give out with the soft snow, only stopping for 20 minutes to grab a frosty Long Trail. I pretty much hit every trail that was open with the exception of Upper Walking Boss, which from what I heard was extremely boney, and lower flume that was all ice and icy bumps... The trails with snow made especially upper and lower picked rocked skied amazingly... Once the snow softened up lower walking boss, it was great. Here are a couple of pictures I snapped...

Up on north peak heading towards sunset.

So crowded, I had a gondi ride to myself!

I'll piggy back on this report.
Overall, a great day, half day for me, that is. Got there about noon and started sking about 20 minutes later. Avoided the gondola until the very end of the day. There were quite a few people. A big bunch of Brits on school vacation that were originally set to ski Killington, were redirected to Loon since that's that only game in town (big group logistics, etc.).

Upper walking boss was indeed a sheet of ice on top even in the afternoon sun and the icy moguls were not worth the fight, but the lower parts of these two trails off the North (? - I'm not that familiar with lift/trail names here) Chair were fun.

So was the rest of the mountain, especially were they made snow. Mush, later into the afternoon, but great fun. Blue sky, no wind, warm sun. Perfect end to the season. Wish there was more.
