And snowmaking added to ever be open as a clear cut trail. Faces directly into the NW winds. Undercut got blown out as a glade by those winds, no way it holds any natural for long now.

Loon South Peak Expansion

Maybe the idea is to use the profits from real estate sales to fund further skiing related work at Timber Town.
Skied Loon today. They probably got about 3in of snow after the rain froze up. Surface was hard pack with a bit of fluff on top. Everything was groomed and every trail had a few icy spots and some crowded areas. The south side has one trail top to bottom. the North East Express also has just one trail open. Flume and Upper Walking Boss are closed. It's a bit odd that Loon has chosen not to make snow on any expert trails at all this year. Just novice and intermediate trails.

It is getting old with just Sunset off the North Peak chair. They usually blow Upper Walking Boss earlier in the season. Upper Flume is usually last on North Peak.

Yeah, very odd on NP. Probably passing on it as they have most of their water directed to South right now. That will be better with 3 main routes open down it. Ight be enough to draw me Tuesday for a shorter drive, but K just has so much more open right now.
I may head to K tomorrow and hit Cannon and Loon later this week. They need more snowmaking time. K has been getting some natural, hopefully it didn't all blow off!

Loon was surprisingly good today, groomers turned up a good surface. Cannon was all about the front five on Saturday, several inches of heavy fresh. Visibility up top was maybe the worst I have ever seen, cannot see your hands bad.
Cannon day for me tomorrow, will post a report.

And we're back to no Timbertown midweek, dripping their trail count to 27. Nope.
So rather than blowing more trails on North Peak which is open 7 days a week, they choose to blow Timber town which is open 3 days a week... I will be there today, hopefully the wind isn't too bad. Loon is usually tamer than other areas like Cannon on windy days.
I'll be honest with you the wind on the drive up was stronger than the wind at cannon yesterday. It was a normal cold day with a.stiff breeze up top. Not sure if that's the case today as well

Yeah, I cannot understand their obsession with timbertown. They absolutely need the escape route parking on weekends but could blow one route down then move back to UWB, flume, east basin before finishing timbertwon.
On a positive note, jobber and twitcher open today plus 7BX has been running midweek this year.

I get it right now with Loon blowing primary South Peak trails like Lower Twitcher, maybe Ripsaw next and Upper Twitch, Jobber, Boom before. If South is charged up, might as well make the crap out of it. But you have limited terrain in East Basin/North Peak currently. Suck it up and run Timbertown if that is where you are expanding right now. BTW, SR is spinning Merrill 7 days/wl this season. Guess enough 3rd/4th/5th mansions are fully constructed now
Ripsaw was a bone yard with no snow made on it to date. Gondola and the North Peak Quad were closed due to the wind. We were told the only way to get to South Peak was to ride the shuttle bus. No one mentioned that the East basin double was spinning. Could have accessed Tote Road chair from that. We rode that after lunch and was the best ride of the day. Gondola cars at the top were not swaying in the wind when we got there. Upper trails were empty. South peak was pretty empty also, but the wind was right in your face on the way down. Lots of collage kids there today. Some snowmaking was happening, but I would not call it an all-out push. Wind may of been a factor, no sense having it blow into the woods.

Just looked at the snow report for today, still no mention of any snowmaking coming to NP any time soon. Kind of crazy to be a week away from MLK and 1 trail off NP. I kind of wonder if they blew out a line up there or something.

I stand corrected, Lower Walking Boss and Haulback now open and last nights report said snowmaking in Upper WB(although trail status today doesn’t back that up. Boom Run also now open.

Good progress made on UWB and lower flume, I suspect both join the lineup before the holiday weekend. Crew of three was staging upper flume today also.
Surface was good this afternoon, you can rack up vertical fast when the place is wide open midweek but if Friday is the new Saturday, Monday is the new Sunday, hill was busy for a monday.

New condos were listed yesterday. About the same price as the ones coming to Bear Mnt at Killington.
They were still blowing on Lower Flume yesterday and the whales are getting massive. They also started to push out the piles and they are spreading the snow wider across the trail.
