Loon Mountain
31°F - SNOWING ALL DAY – Made it seem Heavenly
The Snow Gods delivered Rocky Mountain Powder to the White Mountains today!
The ride up 93 was an interesting mix of snow falling, snow on the road and many lunatics driving as fast as they could in it.
The conditions on the mountain consisted of cloud cover with falling snow, which did not hinder the visual. The snow was so soft everywhere and we made comfortable pressure powder turns everywhere. The glades on North Peak were open as well as Upper Flume, Triple-Trouble, Big Dipper and Angel Street. However the East Basin Chair was closed.
Overall the mountain was empty and we rode up the Gondola twice just so we could ski the top of Angel Street.
The lower elevation trails were fall-line express routes with the powder acting as a brake with long carving turns. The upper elevation trails were less scrapped and the bumps under the snow were perfect for un-weighting before pressuring the ski (or board) into a graceful carve.
This is the best POWDER DAY I've ever skied at Loon. Take a day in the next few to enjoy it.
