Resort or Ski Area: Loon

Conditions: Spring Conditions

Trip Report: Well here we are, the beginning of the season... Or is it really the end of last season? With the conditions on the mountain today, it felt like super spring conditions here at the end of November. Rode the gondi up at around 9:00am not, not sure what to expect. Getting off the lift and stepping into my skis, boy did I get a bit of a surprise!

My first run of the day was traversing across Haulback (okay not a real run) to Lower Walking Boss. It was soft, wet snow, and well from not being on the snow 7 months, boy did my legs not work right! I couldn't turn, and it was just a ugly run! So I took a few minutes at the bottom of the run at Camp III lodge, grabbed myself a Power Aid, and shook off the cobwebs! I jumped back on the lift and took Upper Walking and Lower at a slow but good clip. My legs were getting their feeling back and it felt damn good to be on the snow. Headed back up to the top of North Peak for a third time on Walking Boss before taking Sunset over to Seven Brothers to grab a beer or 2 at the bar at the base... Half way down the mountain I began to encounter it... the dreaded Brown Snow all the way down Seven Brothers! Just way too many people on the snow and the little base they had just couldn't handle it. But I persevered and made my way back up to North Peak again to grab lunch at Camp III and ski until 2pm. By that time it was nicely bumped up and clearly the place to be if you wanted to get your turns in. After that I made my way back down to the brown snow and back home. All in all a good day out on the snow. Here are some pictures for you guys!

I was also there... I actually thought that Picked Rock skied the best out of anything. I agree the run to the base was a mess but if you stuck to the left side there was some good snow!

Not surprised about Seven Brothers...it was looking thin in spots on Friday afternoon.

Was Upper Walking Boss groomed at all or did they leave it bumped up?
