CO Front Range
Date(s) Skied: 3/22/08

Resort or Ski Area: Mad River Glen

Conditions: Blue Sky, chilly (20's), packed powder, crust, bumps, ice,

Trip Report:

After a great day at Sugarbush yesterday Jake and I hit MRG this morning. Turned out not as great but we had fun.

The day ended up being more crowded than I expected it to be. We stuck mostly to the double chair and waits were 15+ minutes most rides. Snow wasn’t as good as @ SB but softened as the day wore one. The board at the base of the chair called it “firm and funky under fluff”.

Didn’t pay too much attention to trail names we just skied where we saw something we liked. Runs of the day for me were the Upper Glade and Upper Canyon. Jake’s pick was Birdland Chute (behind Birdland lift) and the ensuing woods.

I love that first pic...looks like a powder day I had at Steamboat, Colorado. Snow/ice/rime on all the trees, some freshies still to be found, and nice bumps forming everywhere.

Sweet!

Snow encrusted trees under bluebird is one of my favorite contrasts....
