EAST BURKE, Vermont -- Burke Mountain is excited to announce that Matthew Valentine won the Sports Illustrated Kids NEXT Snow Search qualifier held last weekend. Matthew, a skier and sometimes snowboarder, will represent Burke Mountain at the finals, held on March 2-4 at Killington Resort, in Killington, VT.
The ten-year old comes from New York, but has been skiing at Burke since he was two and has been a member of the Burke Mountain Academy Junior Race Program for the past 4 seasons. Matthew enjoys skiing because, "you can be free and just have fun." He believes a real champion has "pride in what they do, love for the sport, confidence in their style, and [is not] a sore loser."
Matthew possesses all of those qualities and will be an excellent representative of Burke Mountain when he competes for a spot on the Sports Illustrated Kids Next Snow Team.
