If you can't find it maybe I'll let you borrow my copy. I'll have to watch it again first though, I recently got it back after lending it out for longer than expected and have been jonsing to watch it again... ;)

We could also organize a viewing at Sundown one night. ;-)

This is what I got back from Chris at Meathead films:

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your inquiry. Porn, of the skiing type, is definitely a must this time of year. Good to know you have your radar out.

Epoch and Born From Ice should be available next week through ems.com and at all of their 60 retail stores. We'll post a notice on our website as soon as they're available for purchase.

Pray for the white stuff,
Chris

For those of you looking for ski porn:
Meatheads Schooled, Born From IC and Snow Gods will all do the trick. Epoch is awesome too but it isn't really traditional ski porn. It's a pretty good documentary though. It would be of interest to anyone who earns their turns or even history buffs.

And I think I've asked this before....but does "Schooled" feature only rails and parks or trees as well??
iirc, schooled has a lot less park action than snow gods. i haven't watched it in a year, but i remember some good pow and tree shots. born from ice was definitely the better of three. i still enjoy epoch the most.

I somehow managed not watch BFI yet, glad to hear you like it the best out of the three Steve. I really like Epoch too, I'm actually watching it right now...

How can I get my hands on the Meathead films? I'm guessing Snow Gods isn't available on DVD yet. But where can I get a copy of Born From Ice or Epoch? The links from their website take me to EMS. EMS's site says they are not in stock.

Amazon has a box set from Matchstick. Is it worth the dough? I haven't heard much about Matchstick.

PS - It was the best of Matchstick box set...

You can buy them directly from the Meatheads site www.meatheadfilms.com Born from Ice is still available, but Epoch is sold out. Other vendors might still have some but Meatheads doesn't have any left. Unlike their earliest films which will not be sold again, Epoch is being reordered. Epoch is also not a ski film in the strictest sense of the word. It is more of a documentary about East Coast backcountry than a ski film such as Snow Gods, Born From Ice or Schooled.

I don't know that you can buy Snow Gods online yet but you can pick up a copy if you go to one of their shows https://www.meatheadfilms.com/tour/ and see it.

Matchstick is pretty good, but personally If I was going to spend money on ski porn I would rather give my money to the local guys (and I have; I own Schooled, Born From Ice, and Snow Gods and would love to get my hands on a copy of Elevated if anyone has one and is bored of it).

Its neat too to see footage of stuff in the East that we could actually ski rather than the superhuman 75 degree Alaskan slopes and 200 foot cliff hucks you get in a lot of other movies.

Especially since Sundown is in the film this year
No kidding? Is that the park footage that was on their Web site? In any event, pretty cool that the home hill made it in a Meathead film!

I still can't believe they haven't hit the Loaf yet. I'd say the Loaf and Whiteface are two places that should be on their shortlist. Maybe next year...

The link to buy them from their site brings you to EMS.com, which is sold out of BFI even though meatheadfilms.com still says it's available.

I didn't realize that. I just bought Schooled (for the second time after I lost my other copy) and it comes directly from the Meatheads site. I didn't realize BFI was different.

EDIT: I scoured the internet and found that Skiershop appears to have it http://skiershop.com/itemdetails.cfm?catalogId=47&id=507

as do these folks (only 4 copies left though) http://www.snowshack.com/bofriceeacos.html

Its here!

Born From Ice arrived this morning and the wife is on a business trip. The wife loves skiing but doesn't cave to the lure of ski porn like I do. I can't wait to pop it in tonight.

A haiku about Born From Ice in response to Grassi

You will enjoy it
You make me want to watch it.
Too bad Dave has it.

Dave is my buddy. He is just getting me back from keeping Schooled for like a year.

A question to you all...
I've practically exhausted every method of dealing with pre-season ski fever I know of. I've been to all the swaps so far, I'm all set with prob more gear than I need, I've seen every ski movie I own so many times it is pathetic (except for born from ice, which Dave has) What else can I do???? Mountain biking used to work but now when I get home from work it is dark :(

Thanks for the haiku. I stopped lending people DVDs/books because I hate when I don't see them back for years or not at all.

How is this for ski fever? After reading about Mt. Dozer, I joined the snowgun.com forum. When the wife gets back from her business trip I will be making the final push to buy an air compressor. They have many more uses than just making snow....
