Just wanted to clue everyone in on the new dedicated mogul skiing forum I've just finished. Head to http://forums.mogulskiing.net for discussion of all things mogul-related.

I haven't posted here before, but I'm a regular on the skiMRV Sugarbush board, and I'm a hardcore lurker! Many thanks to Greg who has offered help and info.

Anyways... feel free to check it out, register, and join in on the mogul skiing fun.

This is a great idea and an awesome niche site that I imagine will be very popular (I wish I had thought of it). BMM is a good guy and a very active contributor on SkiMRV. It is VERY difficult to get a forum off the ground so please, everyone here that is a mogul nut, head over there, register and post a bunch to kick it off. The key to getting a forum going is to make it seem popular so let's "seed" some activity! :).

Just want to BUMP this once to make sure everyone got to see it. Thanks to all of those who have come over and gotten things rolling so far. 20 members and 91 posts is pretty good for a 4 day old forum.

In case anyone's interested, our newest member of the mogul forum is Jonny Moseley himself (verified identity). I'm certainly pleased to have Jonny on the board, and I think he will bring a new level of credibility and information. :D

From the US Olypic Bio:

" Moseley, Jonny

The Short List

* 1998 Olympic moguls gold medalist
* 1998 World Cup moguls champion Two-time World Cup overall champion (1995, '96)
* Claimed a first place finish during 2001-2002 World Cup season
* Finished 4th in the 2002 Olympic moguls
* 2000 U.S. Open Slopestyle Champion

Did You Know?

* Won 1998 Olympic Winter Games with a mute helicopter grab
* A few of his new favorite moves are the dinner roll 720 and the 900
* Raced alpine as a youngster but switched to freestyle after getting bored with alpine
* Competed in a made-for-TV "Superstars" competition in 1998 after the 1998 Olympic Winter Games, finishing second overall. His competitors were no slouches, including football stars Keyshawn Johnson, Kordell Stewart and Herschel Walker and long j
* Had brush with death while skiing in Alaska: came out of a shoot that he thought ended in powder, but there actually were rocks at the end. In the end, he caught an edge and cartwheeled over a bunch of rocks
* Admitted on The Air Bergy Show that he has never really worked. The closest thing he has had to a job was when he worked for his father when he was young, helping repair tractors, cars, trucks and boats. Listen to the show
* Favorite meal is burritos
* Wants to throw some 'dinner rolls' at the Olympic Winter Games, which are his version of multiple-rotation flat spins

It's Every Day

After taking two seasons off from World Cup competition because of burnout, Moseley returned this year with aspirations of defending his Olympic gold medal. He spent the preseason training and testing rigorously, mostly on his own with former coach Cooper Schnell, who helped direct his gold-medal itinerary four years ago."

I caught part of "art of the athlete" on the fitness channel which feature John Moseley. John decided to perform a controversial aerial maneuver that involved a flip in the 02 Olympics, the judges at the time had no way to score it, hence he fell short. It seemed to have started a trend afterwards, competitors performing more flips and the judges allowing these type of maneuvers.

It is off-axis ,but he doesnt go inverted...His legs do not go over his head..so technically it wasnt an invert...However very clever and cutting edge of him to push the envelope the way he did..and change the old school thinking on mogul aerials

Thanks for taking the time to create a forum and the link. I doubt I'll be contributing much (because I suck at moguls) but I'm always interested in new sources of sharing information and tips, etc. Hats off to you, man!

Agreed, it wasn't an invert. Most aerials at that time had rotations on the axis that was perpendicular to the surface. He introduce something novel and he did change the game. But he introduced in the olympics where the judging could not come up with a way to score it; degree of difficulty was not assigned nor the quality of the jump; amount of knee/leg separation or tightness of his tuck.

As a casual observer, it seemed that he could have placed in 02, his turns looked better than janne, travis and mikko (perhaps?). It looked like he got good height in his first aerial. It would have been interesting to see the score card of his run and compare it to the other guys.

Hey BMM! What's going on with the MS.net forum? I know your host was doing some upgrade or something over the weekend, but I thought it was running again. I haven't been able to access last evening nor this morning. Come on! I need my fix of bump skiing talk!

BTW, once the site is back up any of you bumpers that haven't been there should check it out. A lot of bump-specific technique talk and activity is still holding on even during these warmer snowless months.

It is back up, but you'll have to wait for the DNS entry to be resolved in your ISP's database. Hopefully within a day or two you should be able to access it.

Good news is, I've got all the bandwidth and storage I could ever want for free as a result of the mixup! Plus a ton of new features with Cpanel vs. the old Plesk.

Also, anyone who hasn't seen it yet, check out the new mogulskiing.net store at http://www.cafepress.com/mogulskiing.

Thanks for the update. Still down for me. :( Maybe I'll just buy a tee shirt while I wait? ;)
