Date(s) Skied: Sunday December 18, 2011

Ski Area:Mohawk Mountain, CT

Conditions: Machine Groomed Packed Powder

Trip Report:

Had a great day of skiing today for sure. Despite the difficult weather of late the snow making crew at Mohawk has been out in full force and really laying down the snow. Despite the unsettled nature of the weather the conditions where pretty fantastic!

There were 2 routes open this weekend and although the conditions where a bit marginal yesterday with the cold temps overnight they improved dramatically today. I arrived a bit before 8am, rounded the corner and saw the beautiful snowmaking cloud hanging over the hill as I entered the parking lot and knew it would be a great day. The sun was out and the hill was being fully assaulted by roar of 60+ SMI polecats, quite the show of firepower. The guns ran all day long and promise to open more terrain very soon.

Drove by after breakfast to check on snow-making progress. Their progress over the past couple of days is tremendous. I'll be skiing one or two mornings this week.

Holy cats! Wheeeere are they drawing all that water from? Probably no one for a 10 mile radius got decent water pressure for a shower. That's awesome though.
