I figured now that we've spent a few days and 5 pages talking about the most underrated trails in this thread, it would be fun to have a poll. I tried to pick out from the thread most of the trails that were named and received at least marginal agreement in replies. Since I was capped at 20 choices, I wasn't able to choose every one, so sorry if your choice wasn't included in the poll. As I stated in a post below, I chose only single trails, not underrated mountains, so I apologize for having no trails at Burke. (Also, don't laugh at my lame attempt to alphabetize the trails in order to present them in a fair way. I was reordering as I was going along and seemed to forget to fix the first few trails. No, I do not actually believe Black Wizard comes before Chin Clip, or that Chin Clip comes before Cathedral Brook!)

Even though it will let you choose as many as you would like, please cap it at 3 choices.

Results are public.

[Edited after I made the poll to reflect changes and to add link to original thread.]

Assuming the software lets me, I'll make the rules that you can choose up to 3 trails.
You can choose multiple options; just not sure if you can limit it to 3. You can also makes the votes public if you want. Let me know if you need a hand.

Thanks Greg. So it's up. I made it multiple choices. I'll trust that people will limit it to 3, but I couldn't but that requirement in. I also didn't put in entire-mountain votes, so I apologize to Steve and others who suggested Burke but not a particular trail. It's just for fun anyways. I also made the votes public, so everyone be forewarned :)

Maybe someone else will do this for the "overrated" thread. I have to start studying for my last test, this was enough procrastinating for me for now :)

So I voted for Empire and Morningstar. I wasn't going to vote for any trail I didn't ski, obviously (which really is a sizeable number on the list). I also didn't want to vote for an additional trail at a ski area that I like (Sugarbush) simply because I like the area a lot, or a trail that I haven't skied in a long time and can't remember enough to judge. So I was stuck with 2 votes.

There are many there that I haven't skied. I gave Nor'easter a nod (Sundown, by the way) but I wouldn't call it the one of most underrated trail in the Northeast as the poll question asked. I would say though that as a blue trail at a little CT hill, it probably provided more entertainment than most people would have expected this past season. Here's a pic that Catul took that shows more of the trail than my avatar does:

Out of the options listed that I've skied, I give Twist my biggest vote.

Those bumps look exquisite....they are like PERFECTLY spaced...wish I was there that night...my knees would not have liked me in the morning...

Nor'easter does look fun. Impressive for a blue anywhere to have bumps like that, forget about a small CT ski area. I figure it's not possible to edit the poll to change "some CT ski area" to "Sundown"? It doesn't seem that I have the ability to edit the poil. In my quick review of the thread to get trail names, I didn't notice Nor'easter's home being mentioned. I just saw the trail mentioned as the one of the better surprises in CT, so I listed it that way :)

I voted for Lookout, Hammerhead and Twist.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Smuggs gets no respect - no trails listed in this poll. Definitely have 3 of the most underrated trails in the East in Freefall, Liftline and Robyn's Run.

Oh, I'm really sorry if you listed those in the original thread and I missed them. I went through the entire thread again, but did it quickly, so it's possible I missed your post. I don't know which trails I would've omitted if I included something from Smuggs, but I can assure you that it wasn't intentional to exclude Smuggs. I included plenty of trails from mountains less known than Smuggs including trails I have never heard of, forget about never skied. I haven't been to Smuggs either, but it's certainly on my list of mountains I want to ski, and the trails you named are trails that I have known the names of for years despite not skiing them. I had no intent to not give Smuggs the respect it deserves.

That is a nice looking bump run. Funny how photos can play tricks to the eye. It almost looks like Greg has stopped on the bump and is looking down the line.
Keep in mind. Catul has a pretty radical digital SLR with a massive zoom lens that he took that pic with. I almost fainted when he pulled that thing out of the case. Anyway, he shot that using a rapid-fire sport mode where he was able to grabs a few frames every second. It was fun to thumb through all of them to analyze my turns on that run. I look pretty good in some shots, and in others, I'm splaying out a bit. It felt like a solid run though. Wish I had a quality video of it.

I don't know alot about cameras or lens, but look at your avitar, you can tell you're ripping down the zipper. In this pix it looks like your standing still. I'm guessin both pixs where takin on the same run.

Same run. The avatar pic is from four bumps down. In the pic posted here, I'm just starting to extend over that bump. I guess he just captured me as I was reaching the apex of that mogul making it look like I was just standing on top of it. I'm still a bit bent at the knees though.

Oops. I have never been to Saddleback. Saw the name and assumed it was a trail.
