Resort: Mount Snow

Conditions: Generally overcast, temps in the relatively speaking "balmy" 20's after yesterdays single digit day  Machine Made packed powder/powder with some hard pack here and there and CROWDED!!!!

Report: Let me start by saying that I've been skiing Mount Snow for 25+ years and have logged well over 500 days on the hill here. Today was close to, if not the most crowded I've seen it. But the funny thing is, if you knew where to look, you could get around the mountain very easily with limited lines and uncrowded trails :) From about 10AM on, the base area lifts were out of the corrals, and when the summit local went down for about 1/2 hour around noon, that didn't help. Rope drop on Ego Alley was AWESOME!!! Huge, soft whales of snow top to bottom was worthy of repeats by my wife and myself. ROTD though was Mineshaft. Once the dropped the rope late AM, just sweet HUGE piles of fan made snow that they're amassing on there for the very soon build of the mini pipe.

Northface skied groomed and hardpack, although they fired guns on Fallen Timbers a bit after noon. Sunbrook was also groomed and cruised nice. Beartrap just looked plain UGLY. Wind scour with the occassional mini bump. They need to give Beartrap another solid gun run to get things going there.

Right now as of 5:30PM, some light snow is falling (calling for an inch or 2 tonight). The mountain has fully recovered from last weeks meltdown, and is in expansion mode now :) Carinthia base area is also really starting to take shape for next weekends Dew Tour. This is going to be a HUGE event!

I'm hoping tomorrow will be a bit less crowded because everyone is going back to school/work on Monday.

What do you think Jeff? Will Sunbrook be a good place to avoid the crowds?

Me too

I'll be at Mount Snow tomorrow with four teenagers - should be fun! I'm hoping it won't be too crowded! Their snow report says they got 5-6" of new snow last night. I expect they wouldn't be doing the pay your age thing if they expected a lot of people. Of course, with that deal they will likely be attracting a lot of people who ARE skiing tomorrow (like us).

Glenn, today(Saturday) about 10:30, my wife and I headed down Sunbrook. We took Beartrap out of there because that was the shorter of the 2 lines and still waited 5 minutes

LOL! I'm mentally prepaired to wait!

And I forgot about pay your age day tomorrow. That may bring in some ppl. Too bad its not "Pay how old you look". I'd only have to pay about $12.
