Mount snow REALLY sucked due to the ice

Agree with the crowd comments, but I didn't experience any ice that day (I only skied until noon . . . not sure if the conditions changed). I was floating through the 5-6 inches of the light powder that fell that morning.

The crowds were huge that day . . . even some of the remote trails we usually ski were crowded. It took a bit of navigation, but once off the main face, we never waited in line in the am. I don't think there was anywhere else to park a car that day.

Ego alley was closed saturday afternoon for slalom race training. Saturday afternoon at Mount snow REALLY sucked due to the ice, the crowds, and loud painful to ski through snowmaking on almost every trail. I brought a big group of friends up that day and I was hard pressed to convince them its usually decent.

Ice???? Jeez I didn't see a bit of it on Saturday... They have had a solid 3 days worth of snowmaking and the conditions are in general very good considering the thaw that happened.

As for crowds - welcome to any big mountain in Vermont on the weekend. There are trails and lifts that you can use to avoid them.

wow, no ice sat am, the conditions must have really changed, I was lovin all the little bumps on the sides of trails formed by the crowds, but my friends are boarders and don't like bumps. The conditions must have really changed in the PM as it was basically just ice. Did you guys look at Thanks Walt or Chute?

Totally agree...ice, ice and more ice in the PM! Everything we skied had been scrapped off. But the sides were definitely enjoyable. So glad I've been practicing my tighter turns. And it did force us to venture around the mountain to find new trails, something we've been meaning to do but always seem to stay with the favorites.

As for Fallen Timbers on Sunday, definitely a blast. Large moguls developed and we spent the later afternoon there. We are hoping they will still be there come Friday (and not mowed down as in the past).

Loving the powder on Saturday morning, I found myself on the Bear Trap lift with a gentleman that was heading in for the day (this was before noon) because there was "too much snow". Hmmm. Then waiting at the bottom of North Face for other family members, another gentleman, also waiting on family members, commented that now that Fallen Timbers had bumped up, it was "terrible" and no longer "any fun" and he was eager to move on to other parts of the mountain. To each his own, I guess!

I had the same thing happen to me last year - in the middle of one of the serious snow storms this lady said, "there is too much snow, I can't turn".

Outside of telling her to grab some lessons or bigger skis, I went off into the Trials... yum....

You are right though, it has to be very difficult to find a common ground as to what to groom or leave alone...
