Date(s) Skied: 23NOV06
Resort or Ski Area: Mount Snow
Conditions: "packed powder" firm but edgeable, some sizeable cookies
Trip Report:
Arrived just after 8AM, not very many cars in the lot. It had rained for most of the drive but did not appear to have rained at the mountain.
Enough snow around the Canyon chair to get your skis on and get on the lift.
All laps are based on the North Face chair (I forget the name, skiers right). The Outpost chair was turning, but not open. I never saw the Summit chair turn (but only made that loop once).
2 options:Either over to Chute or an uphill skate around the summit lodge to Upper Canyon > River Run.
Chute was mostly covered (the mound tapered off on skiers left), in surprisingly good shape given that Mother Nature hasn't been helping too much. Some cookies on the last steep part. It was quiet enough I was able to make about 10 quick laps on Chute before heading home at 11 to cook the Turkey. Never waited more than 3 or 4 chairs.
Downloading on Canyon was a weird feeling, I've never done that before.
Beginners chair next to Canyon also open.
It was great to finally get the first turns of the season in, thank you Mount Snow for making it possible (and opeing with a real trail!).
