I took advantage of my childrens' and my day off from school yesterday and skiied for a few hrs. Conditions were "mixed". We took advantage of the lack of crowds to check out Carinthia. Played in Grommet until they got Heavy Metal spinning, at which point we moved up to the Gulch. WOW! the features in there are HUGE. My son loved it, and since we pretty much had the trail to ourselves I was comfortable letting him play on the jumps without worrying that he'd get smushed like a bug when the next skier came down on top of him :)

We then went to the main face and skied Standard, Snowdance, and Lower Ex. Standard skied nicely, Snowdance was patches of blue ice that we had to thread our way around by staying on the "white parts", and a short hike from the top of lift 9 to Exhibition provided the run of the day. Soft spring like snow, with some brushes in the snow marking a short section of a "race course" for the kids and I to zoom through.

School's out again today and my son is now threatening me: he knows I want to ski again, but he says he'll only go if it's a "terrain only" day!

Awesome update Euler!

They were doing a lot of work on Gulch on Thursday. In fact, they had to shut down Nitro Express due to the icing and open up Heavy Metal. That gave us a great view of the work they were doing on the Gulch. I remember seeing on feature that looked like it was going to be massive.

Good to hear the conditions were good. Let's hope some natural stuff falls up there this week. They're talking snow here in CT, so in theory, you should be all set up there.

Yup, Snowdance wasn't the greatest yesterday. My wife and took 1 run down it and decised that we didn't need to ski it again the rest of the day. Canyon/Standard was basically just a fun mile of hero snow and we ended up lapping that for a few hours (OK, the fact that my daughter's lesson group was lapping it too help influence our choice also).

Soon, enough the temps will fall, and a massive fangun assault will start again, and hopefully, mother nature will send the helpfull kind of frozen precip very soon.

Bottomline, I really can't complain too much about a few hours of mid December mild temp hero snow laps :)
