I took advantage of my childrens' and my day off from school yesterday and skiied for a few hrs. Conditions were "mixed". We took advantage of the lack of crowds to check out Carinthia. Played in Grommet until they got Heavy Metal spinning, at which point we moved up to the Gulch. WOW! the features in there are HUGE. My son loved it, and since we pretty much had the trail to ourselves I was comfortable letting him play on the jumps without worrying that he'd get smushed like a bug when the next skier came down on top of him
We then went to the main face and skied Standard, Snowdance, and Lower Ex. Standard skied nicely, Snowdance was patches of blue ice that we had to thread our way around by staying on the "white parts", and a short hike from the top of lift 9 to Exhibition provided the run of the day. Soft spring like snow, with some brushes in the snow marking a short section of a "race course" for the kids and I to zoom through.
School's out again today and my son is now threatening me: he knows I want to ski again, but he says he'll only go if it's a "terrain only" day!
