Trip Report:
After skiing from 9 to 4 at Berkshire East yesterday, my legs weren't in any shape for skiing today, but as night life was non-existent last night, I went to bed early in hopes of getting some morning turns at Mt. Sneaux.
Parked at my usual spot in the Sundance lot... 2'nd row at 9am and no lift lines, can't beat it. Rode the Tumbleweed up and ran down to the Canyon Quad. First run was through the park to Illusion, which I haven't skied since there was a double chair on the trail, lol. They made snow on it this year and it was untracked corduroy still. Fun, narrow run. Rode it up again and ran down River Run to the North Face. Wanted to see Ripcord first from the bottom this weekend to see what kind of human debris was falling down it. Looked a little sketchier than last weekend after most of the nat. had been skied up. Took a run on it anyway, actually it was real good. If you're not comfortable with quick hop turns, don't bother with this run. Was also suprised to see they had opened Plummet up since last weekend. This is one of the best run around. They had begun to make snow on it a few weeks ago but moved to the Sunbrook area instead. Looks like they finished... anyway it was in great shape, nice soft carvable bumps. Also ran down Freefall and Chute, both were skied off but still edgable. Resurfacing needed bigtime on both...
Next I headed back to the front and took a run both down Lodge and Exhibition... not too bad. Before I ended the day I wanted to hit a few runs that I missed last weekend thata re always fun. South Bowl to Sundance is a classic, and is in great shape due to them making snow on it all week. Last run was down Ridge Run, also in good shape.
I'm sure I missed a few runs, but that's about the jist of it. Sundance and Ego Alley triples not running today, crowds weren't as bad. Overall skiing is great up there. Resurfacing is needed all around though. Plenty of rocks and cat tracks coming through and things were mostly skied off by 11am, a sure sign that more snow is needed.
Picture is Ripcord from cell phone cam. Picture doesn't do the pitch justice.
