Resort:Mount Snow

Conditions: Prety much everything but deep powder and thunder  It was 41 on the thermometer on my deck this AM, with occasional mist/drizzle and a GUSTY wind(kind of knew that some lift holds were happening before I watched the AM RSN Snow Show). Temps dropped during the couple of hours I was on the hill which started to set the nice spring snow.

Report: The old addage, if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes was very true for the 3 hours I was on the hill today. My daughter and I were on about the 10th chair up Canyon Quad this AM, and had a very slight crust(easily breakable) to deal with at first. After a bit of traffic, the runs that were groomed out last night skied like perfect spring hero snow :) The stuff that wasn't groomed was a mix of perfect spring snow to slightly sticky snow to even some soft, almost collapsable snow in some of the tree areas/bumps. I did my best to get over to the USSA B mogul seeded course on Beartrap, but it was roped off

I quit around 11 after 15 runs when the spring gear I was wearing(and was perfect at first this AM) became insufficient. The upper mountain was setting up and the setting snow line was dropping down the hill. Lots of grooming in the coming days as we cycle through a few melt-freeze-melt-freeze days, but the cats have plenty of base to work with. I'll get a get a 1st hand report tommorrow as to how they groom everything out as my wife and kids are skiing tommorrow

I wuz there today too

On my way back from Snow right now. I probably wouldn't have gone today, but some friends were going and the plans were set.

On the way up I checked their snow report, it didn't sound good with wind holds, combine that with the rain as we drove, we were seriously considering what we were doing.

Conditions were decent as DJ says above. The crowds thinned to nothing after lunch. The temp dropped too. All the loose snow went from mashed potatoes to sugar by the end of the day. The top of the mountain was pretty icy, I mean very icy, they need a dump badly.

We skiied a lot slower than when its just me and my son, so I got to work on some things, I felt like I made progress today.

All in all a pretty good day of skiing!

My wife and I were up there today as well. The rain falling early this AM was not fun to drive through. But that had changed to snow by the time we got to the Sundance lot. Conditions were all over the place; soft snow at the base, hardpack mid mountain, windblown boiler plate up top. It was odd to see corduroy at 2PM...and it was solid corduroy on "Thanks Walt". I'll have pics in a bit or by tomorrow.
