Wow.

Some observations:

*Peak is successful because of its snowmaking. I would expect upgrades at both resorts, probably after ASC strips them of snowmaking equipment

*But these resorts represent a departure from Peak's traditional MO....which are local day resorts that are close to metro areas. Both Snow and Attitash do have day markets, but both are "resorts" in the purest sense...with overnight accomodations and year-round activities and business (Attitash especially).

*I am surprised that they spun Snow off, considering that it had a draw and a large market. The question is what will happen next....

*It will be interesting to see how this impacts Crotched.....ticket deals, etc.

Little tidbit from Peak resorts themselves:

Following weeks of speculation, Peak Resorts has entered a purchase agreement for Mount Snow and Attitash with American Skiing Company for $73.5 million. If the purchase of the Mount Snow ski resort and the Attitash ski resort is completed by Peak Resorts, Inc., it is anticipated that a combination of products for season passes will be sold beginning April 9, 2007, or earlier.
