Date(s) Skied: Tuesday, 12/19/08

Resort or Ski Area: Mountain Creek, Vernon, NJ

Conditions: Powder, tracked powder over ice

Trip Report: I skied MC from 12:45 - 3:15 today during the snowstorm. I was originally going to go tonight but I couldn't wait after looking out my window. I lapped the only open trails - Horizon and Sayonara but what a difference from Tuesday. Nice fresh powder that was tracked up in the middle but powdery on the edges of the trail. A couple of spots were scraped off down to the ice below but it was a lot of fun skiing while it was dumping, in the time I was there it snowed about 4 inches.

Not only was it snowing hard but they were blowing snow until about 2:00 on the open trails (I heard the guns going elsewhere after that) so a couple of times I had to clean the ice off my goggles. Pretty crowded, a lot of teens who had a snow day were there but there was no wait at the lift though occasionally the trail got a little crowded. I'm sure it will be packed tomorrow but Hidden Valley will be open so I'll take my son there. MC's website says South will be open tomorrow too.

I skied the entire time I was there with no break and wanted to stay longer but my very pregnant wife was home with my son who was off school so I figured I should get home. Pretty tired now from shoveling snow, I guess it's a good price to pay for the rare powder day in Jersey.

I think so, maybe not Sunday but I don't know what they're planning. South is open again and I saw that they were blowing snow all over the place today as I drove past to HV.
