I was there Monday to try out member for the day.

It is actually not bad. The up front money goes back into rebuilding the club. Otherwise, the perks you get are not bad. Front row members parking, no dues for 2 years, free apres ski with beer, wine and appz, discount to restaurant, straight to front of the lift lines. If you want to sell your membership back, you get back 70% of the cap contribution.

compared to $199 season passes, sure, it is steep, but compared to $700 season passes in the PA... pretty good deal esp if you live up close.

If the club is semi private.... what you do have is the mountain all to yourself, to some people, you cant put a price to it.

I agree.
ERJ-145CA can tell better of this, but they're still not close to being fully open. I was just up in Vernon and it appears that they're just now getting snow making started on many trails.

Never said that wasn't the case...and on the harder trails I'm definitely still a beginner...

All I'm asking is that people who need to use more of the trail try to leave a slice on the sides so others can pass. They don't have to by the rules, but it would be the courteous thing to do IMO.

I think the bigger key is that people should always try to ski in predictable patterns. It's fine if you want to (or need to) use the entire width of the trail. Just don't suddenly stop or turn in a different direction. As long as you're predictable and consistent, as an uphill skier I'll be able to plan accordingly.

As of today the only trail that's not open is Kurly Kue, one of the blacks. When I was there two nights ago there were 2 trails still closed, but they were blowing on Kurly Kue. Because of the cold weather they are ahead of last year. They have been blowing snow almost around the clock for weeks so they have been trying to get the trails open as fast as they could. If they could get a bunch of memberships to raise the cash they could probably get more snowmaking firepower.

I think the membership also includes year round use but I'm not sure what else they have during the off season. The area is in much better condition than it was in before the new owners took over, a little over a year ago HV was for sale in a sherriff's auction and it looked like it would be closed.

Of course, you can have the mountain almost to yourself most of the time now. The only time I had to wait in a lift line was on January 2nd at the beginner lift with my son and that was only for a couple of minutes.

I work at Mountain Creek, and I myself have not even skied there yet this year because of how crowded it has been. That being said I can tell you the difference between weekends and weekdays as far as attendance is significant.

hammer....do this...next time you are out skiing/riding close your eyes for a few turns and you'll get the sense of frieight beginners have, with people flying by they are in survival mode...if you see them take up a trail which they have every right to do, they hang back, wait, then slide by on the other side...or just stay off those trails...i dont like people like you on harder trails that other rip, and i'm sure you get in the way of a more advanced skiier/rider on those trails, but everyone has to learn and push the comfort zone...let em be, let em have fun and give em a break 'cause we've all been there.

OK...all I tried to do was make a friendly request to those who are just starting out.

This is a tough area for an intermediate skier...I have the skills to cruise down blues and easier blacks, but the trails that I can be comfortable and get some more speed on are the same ones that novices are pushing their comfort zone on.

FWIW, many times on harder trails I'm also looking uphill for someone who's ripping down...as a courtesy I try to give them a clear line even though it's really their responsibility to avoid me.

why havent you goten out? since there is no one there midweek.

I guess it's due to laziness because when I do have work at night the last thing I want to do is get there early since my shift would start at 1-2ish.

hammer...please dont take it personally...just trying to make a point...i;ve been in too many close calls esp with skiing behind my 6 and 3yr olds when a'holes come flyin by lost in their own world (usually with ipods in) not looking ahead and anticipating what the downhill (who has right of way) next move is...just annoys me the lack of proper etiquite these days on the hills...not too long a go i came across a woman scared out of her mind 'cause people where wizzing by and she need to make her wide turns...i helped here and set a block just up hill from her so she could get down.....dont forget, we were all beginners once and give people room to move, they deserve it, they paid for their ticket too and can use all the mountain they like...

Not to mention that if they're scared they might not ski again. Needless to say, the more skiers the better for the industry.
