Not a real pretty sunrise photo, but what's special about it is that it was taken about 7:45AM on Nov 30, 2013. This was the first time in memory that I did lift served skiing at a local area in the month of November since I began skiing out of the Wash DC area as a boy in 1967. It happens around here once every 10 or 15 years, I just hadn't caught it before myself. We had an especially cool November which made for good snowmaking weather. In fact, this pattern has continued and we've had a quietly excellent ski season in the mid-Atlantic. Only one or two major snow events, but no major meltdowns either and consistently cool weather for good preservation of man-made snow bases at the ski areas.
