Spent a few hours at Mt. Snow today with the family. As others have said in trip reports this week, the amount of snow there is outrageous. At the Carinthia lodge, the deck is pretty much walk-on now. In the past I've seen this much snow, but what is remarkable is that this ALL came this week.
The amount of snow made every trail I skied a riot! Uncles was the best I ever remember skiing it. Hop was similarly great--big fluffy pillow moguls all the way down.
We spent some time in Sunbrook...there was a poor, scared moose that had wandered down through the woods to the edge of Thanks Walt near the bottom of the trail. The moose was there for long enough that the ambassadors had to set up some snow fencing to keep skiers from approaching too closely. I think the poor thing was probably sick since a healthy moose probably would have gotten the hell out of there.
The skiing in sunbrook was superb...I love the Dippers on days like today, soft moguls, no crowds...I could push my pole down nearly to the handle right through the packed powder on Big Dipper. We also hit the trees that used to be called "Dark Side of the Moon" while we were over there...just awesome...pretty tracked out, but frankly I'm not skilled enough to ski that much powder in trees until it's packed out a bit.
I couldn't believe how much more snow there is at Mount Snow than just 20-30 miles away in Putney.
Things are set up for a great March
