took the kids over today and resigned myself to the beginner lift. 1 ride in and my daughter said she was done. i was like, oh well, i guess skiing isnt her thing. no, she was done with skiing just complete bunny hills so i upgraded my ticket and we skied off the top all day. yes, its southington, but she was so damn proud of herself. My little one took 2 runs off the top too. but she was ready for hot chocolate so in she went with mom while riley and i skied for another couple of hours.

best day of the year, bar none.

Right on. How did your knees hold up? I find that wedging on groomers with my kids is more abusive on the joints than skiing icy bumps .

Nice, just had a good night with my kids too. Things are finally coming together for my six year old and my 3 year old is picking it up fast. Making turns already and made me take of the tip locks.

i couldnt agree more with the wedge pain thing. i havent been right since wedging for 4 hours at waterville back in january. I havent had a pain free ski day since.

but there was no wedging today. i told them that if they were going to ski off the "big" lift, they had to ski on their own, which is what they wanted. I actually got to link a few turns each run.

btw, the snow surface there was exceptional, unfortunately so were the crowds. place was mobbed.

riley's been into it for sure but Tom's Treat and Papoose, here we come.

I'm just worried about the whole exhibition ending.
That made ME very nervous my first year skiing at 26 y.o., so I can understand. Kind of unfortunately for the little ones, the space on the right is moguls --which used to be the best place to go to get out of the way of everyone else. One of the problems with everything emptying in the same place. Still, they'll get it--and probably faster than I did! ;)

Good to hear she is into skiing!:spread: I wouldn't worry about them on Ex, if you had her going down Doms Way she should have no problems with Ex as long as she can rock a good wedge and she'll probably take the bumps down anyways!

btw, I almost went to Mt Southington yesterday afternoon with niece and nephews, but decided to do some stuff around the house instead. If I knew you were going I would of showed up and grabbed one of them so Riley had someone to ski with since it seems like kids push them selves more while skiing with other kids.

Nice! congrats! We're gonna have a crew of little ripper chicks in a few years. It's partially a result of the brain washing, but my girls are in love with Hannah Kearney right now. ;)

There's no doubt about it. Ex with the little ones can be scary. You have to trust their skills that they'll make it down okay. Insist on a huge wedge. Often times there is an area of thick heavy snow just to the left of the bumps which should help them keep their speed down. Better yet send them in the bumps. ;)

My 4 year old tried Canyon Run on Saturday. And had an epic forward rolling double ejection at the bottom.
