Resort or Ski Area: Mt Sunapee

Conditions: Manmade loose granular

Trip Report:

Sunapee lived up to its reputation for high quality grooming, and the weather lived up to its craptacular reputation. Snow conditions were remarkably good. Weather conditions were remarkably awful. Freezing rain all day, very little snow. We were big slabs of ice the whole time (heading in to the lodge for a cup of coffee was a damp mistake as our clothes thawed out).

No bare spots, good cover on all open trails. The front face was as it usually is- top half was nice, bottom half was relatively crowded and the "snow" was all piled up in non-moguls. Relatively crowded in that all six other people at the mountain were always grouped up.

Sunbowl remains my favorite part of Sunapee, especially Skyway Ledges. Snow was nicely packed and smooth first half of the day, but started to crust up in the afternoon, not surprisingly.

Overall, good day for first day out all season (scary), despite the weather. Sunapee gets big props for its grooming. THey really do an amazing job.
