Trip Report:
Trying to figure out where to go yesterday, I finally decided on Sunapee as it was within an hour and a half from home and lift tickers were $35 with 5 canned goods. Naturally, seeing the mountain was still in prime condition, this was certainly the deal of the day. The trails had complete edge to edge coverage, even one of the gladed runs was still open (but very very bony), and the crowds were light for the holiday. It was truly a pleasure to ski onto the Summit HSQ, without ever waiting in line. As the day started out it was firm corduroy, fast and fun... Not having an edge, I did play it safe though... As the day progressed the sun worked its magic, and turned the firm conditions into some of the best spring skiing conditions I can remember. It wasn't too warm, but the snow was soft, plow-able and pure bliss. Ended up getting 18 runs in, after traversing the mountain before I had to call it a day. Skipping my usual lunch at the pub, I skied from 8:30 to about 1:30, so all in all a good day.
