Yay, I have my camera back!

Sweet afternoon, beautiful weather.

Justin and I got a super early start of 3pm. Obviously with such early start why not try to summit. Anyway, we got up to the summit in slightly under 2 hours, dicked around for like 45 minutes and decided to ski the east snowfields since the south side was cooked. After doing the east snowfields we scurried over to Lakes of the Clouds, then Monroe Brook. We ended up getting back to the car by 6:45 with plenty of daylight to spare (shouldn't have taken another run!)

Anyway, awesome day. Going back Saturday.

Wow, that's going for it, nicely done. Looks like you guys barely beat the sun getting below tree line. How was the bottom of Monroe Brook looking like? Still able to ski out all the way or any hoofing required at lower elevations?

We beat the sun by a good amount of time on the upper section. Monroe Brook gets shady very slowly. It was so warm that it didn't even matter though. East snowfields were completely shady but still skied fine.

No hoofing yet. Still a good amount of snow in the brook. Probably another week without hoofing or maybe just a quarter mile or so at the very bottom of the trail.

Nice. This may go on next week's post work plans on a nice day. Probably just the brook though, doubt I could make that good time to the summit and do the East Snowfields too.

Am I reading this correct :blink: 2 hours? :blink:

What elevation were you starting from. I've only done tucks once about 15 years ago and I recall the hike in and up the ravine being much longer than that.

Is this another side of Washington with a higher access point? Admittedly, I know very little about the mountain's other areas.

Your post has too many words, what gives? :D

Good stuff, way to get in there when you could... I gotta check out the West side one of these days.

picture = 1000 words, 18 pictures
18x1000 = 18000 words!

Way to get at it!
I'm headed up tomorrow. Possibly to Great Gulf or GOS to attempt to avoid Inferno crowds.

From the cog base... which I think is around 2700ft? Pinkham is 2032 and the trail is more meandering and steeper from that side. But yeah, 2hrs is burly no matter what.

Sweet. I would join you but I'm leaving for the Chics Chocs on Wednesday.

Yep, 2700 ft. vs. 2000. Way easier hike though, continuously steep the whole way up. It justs like jumping on the stair master for 3,600 vert.

Did you take Ammo or Jewell from the Cog base, or did you walk the tracks?

Walked the tracks the whole way. Such an ugly way up Washington but it is so quick and takes so little energy.

All my stuff is covered in nasty tar now though. By the time I got to the top the lugs on my boots weren't even touching the ground anymore because they were so caked with tar.
