granted it is a 70-something year old guy, but when he breaks from the pack and makes direct route for Pedro, what is he supposed to do, run? He's certainly not going to hit Zimmer. Just toss him aside...

either way, the whole thing was comical - a 70-year-old guy charging at a professional athlete, and said athlete tossing the guy aside by his ears. You can't think this stuff up....

Hold on...let's not get crazy. I'm not picking on the Sox or anything, just responding to a few posts.

Do you think those punches were thrown without provocation? Who was picking fights with whom? Are you telling me those fans were being complimentary and nice? No doubt they were being as obnoxious as your typical Yankee fan at a home game.

Nelson and Garcia were being assholes, no doubt; but I think the court case determined there was reciprocal blame too.

A case where the event was decidedly unfunny.

However, what Garcia did was uncalled for, and they have some great footage of him blatantly throwing punches, despite his denial.

now, Chris House, out in right field, I wish Sheffield had clocked him. Talk radio the next day was very interesting, especially with his friends calling up to defend him. People will do that for you when you have 8 season tickets in a choice area. The only problem was, all the stories - his friends, his own and the people who sit near there - all contradicted each other.

that's funny. I hadn't heard that one before.

it was very comical the next morning listening to all his friends calling, saying what a stand-up guy he is, how he would never intentionally do anything like that, then hearing fellow season ticket holders call up and say he's a drunk, how he can barely walk up the stairs by the 4th inning, how they almost got in a fight with him, how he constantly uses foul language when there are clearly kids present....

Ever see the footage when a stadium (forget the place) had "seat cushion" day. The umpire made a bad call and 20,000 seat cusions came flying onto the field.

Raining here in Boston...hope they can squeeze it in.

Amazing! And I thought I was being self-deprecating by agreeing with what I ALWAYS hear from EVERY other sports fan I know.
