I'll have to check it out! That new mountain (dump) they are building off 91 in Hartford looks good. All that's needed is a T-Bar.

There's an old hill in Cheshire I'd like to check out. I think they just used to have a rope tow there. Prospect is another one I'd like to check out.

The one at the north end of the Barkhamsted Res. is the old Hartland ski trail. I hiked it for the first time this past summer and plan to ski it this year. There is an open cabin at the top with a fire place and a table and chairs. It is on state land and legal to be there. A lot of locals know about it but only the most motivated ski it because of the hike in. The trail is pretty steep and narrow with a couple of twist.

Post back and let us know how it skis.

it doesnt sound like we are thinking of the same place on the reservoir. does the trail you are talking about lead right to the shore of the reservoir?

No, It stops just above the Tunxis trail. It is on the east side of the reservoir To the right of RT20 heading to Hartland. It most likely is not the same trail. State land ends at the Tunxis trail, down hill from that is MDC (water company)

Is that in Tunxis State Forest or Pine Mt? I did some research; Tunxis Forest ski cabin was built by the CCC in 1937 is that where the ski trail is?

Thanks

Ends behind the Marco Polo Lounge(towards the EH side)....

Its on Rte 44 (Burnside Ave) on the E Hartford - Manchester town line. Park on the side street between Marco Polo and the park. The hill's right there. Be prepared to deal with bunches of kids sledding on weekends/school vacations. I was there about 2 weeks ago just to warm up for a trip up north. There are more hills towards the Manchester side, hike up the hill and go past the cabin up on top, its a good size park.
