SAXTONS RIVER -- Lost ski areas of New England is the topic of the last of three historical fireside chats to be held on Monday, Jan. 21, at 5:30 p.m. at the Saxtons River Inn.Jeremy Davis, founder of the New England Lost Ski Areas Project, will share what he has discovered of lost ski areas in southern Vermont, including Ski Bowl and the Vermont Academy slopes in Rockingham.
Davis has documented 116 lost ski areas in Vermont, 29 of them in the southern part of the state. His website,www.nelsap.org, lists 598 lost sites in New England and another 80 in locations as far-ranging as Colorado, New Jersey, Canada, Germany and Afghanistan.
Included among several local listings on his webpage are Pine Top in Vernon, Maple Valley in Dummerston and Latchis in Brattleboro.
