I bought new boots last time I was up in NH, and this past weekend I got a chance to try them out for the first time. Oh man, what a difference.

I had always heard that a good pair of boots is better than a good pair of skis, but I was a bit skeptical. Was I wrong. For the past 5 years, I've been on the cheapest boot in the store (50 flex), and I bought a new pair of Rossi Synergy Sensor2 110. It's a whole new ballgame.

The first thing I noticed was that it forces me in a forward position, which helps me with my bad habit of sitting in the backseat. Second, the response I get from my skis is unbelievable. My old boots were so soft and packed down, that I had a lot of wiggle room, and on difficult terrain my skis wouldn't necessarily react the way I wanted them to. Now, it's almost "See line, ski line".

I know I'm bordering on hyperbole here, but my new boots made me a better skier overnight. If anybody is considering a new pair of boots, and isn't sure if it's worth the purchase, it definitely is.

Good fitting boots rock!

Did you have them fitted at the shop?

I wouldn't say I had them "fitted". I tried on a few different pairs, and talked with the sales guy about what I was looking for. Not high end, but the guy was very helpful, and clearly I'm happy with the result.

Well if they feel great on day one that's not always a good sign. After you rack up some days on them the liners can really compact a lot and the boots will become too loose. Hopefully you'll stay happy with the fit.

I went through the same experience several years ago when I got my Fischer Progressors. Huge difference in performance, with more support and comfort. I took it a step further by having orthotics done at the same time. Very happy with them.
