I saw a sign at Windham's Wide Connection trail that there is a new trail(s?) for 2013-2014? Anyone confirm any similar happenings at Plattekill, Belleayre, or Hunter?

Well, I don't know about next season. But I know here are some improvements some mountains are trying to make:

Windham: Expand onto backside of East Peak. Should allow more advanced terrain. Create more (or more like how bout SOME) tree skiing. Source: Friend that is a Patroller @ Windham

Belleayre: Expand down to Pine Hill to allow near 2000 vertical ft runs. Add Highmount terrain to area. Source: Patrollers @ Belleayre, Web, rumors, & more

Hunter: Maybe expand higher up on the ridge off a chair from the west side. Most likely not gonna happen. Source: Older development plans, "Secret Trail".

Plattekill: Unknown. Add some snowmaking I guess.

"We anticipate bringing Highmount back into the fold in about three and a half years (i.e. 2016 or 2017). ***
I believe the unit management plan endorsed plans to build trails on that side of the resort [i.e. to Pine Hill], but any development there is a ways in the future."

My understanding was that a year or so ago the Land for the supposed Pine Hill expansion on the east side was transferred and will now remain forever wild

Thanks for that link. Anyone know if the Highmount terrain is really more advanced? It looks short - like it is just the top steep part, not steep and long. Their snowmaking capacity is okay, they would really need to expand it for more terrain.

I think it'd make a lot more sense to add Highmount, and then add the hotel. I don't think many are looking for lodging that often at the base of Belleayre. It needs to be put on the map for publicity so that there's actually some demand for the hotel.

I have not skied Highmount, but I believe its around a thousand vertical of consistent pitch advanced skiing and will add tons of diamond terrain. I don't think there's much of a runout over there.
