Yeah I was there a few weeks ago hiking for turns and saw them dismantling the old one. I heard it was being shipped over to Catamount for a summit quad.

Even thought I rarely ride that lift, I am glad it is being replaced by a high speeder. I'm hoping it will lure other people to it and away from the other chairs. But thats selfish I guess.

I think your hopes will come true. If traffic patterns at Belleayre are anything like the resorts I know, there will be big lines at the quad and smooth sailing everywhere else. To the discerning gaper, standing in line for 20 minutes then riding a lift for 5 is much better than skiing straight on and taking a 12 minute lift. Everyone ends up happy!

Belleayre is never really overcrowded to begin with, except on a holiday weekend with good snow conditions. At such times, the Yahoo triple may have a short 5 minute wait, but rarely more than that. The Tomahawk Quad does get crowded, with 10-15 minute waits not uncommon, so the new chair will help to move some people up the mountain in that area.

And it will help a lot when it's 10 below. You'll also be able to do 50 laps instead of only 30.
