NORTH CREEK, New York -- The upcoming season at Gore Mountain will feature several new improvements, with an emphasis on the beginner skier and snowboarder experience. Beginners will welcome the new "Ruby Run" trail, a green run serviced by the comfort and speed of the Northwoods Gondola. "Ruby Run" will deliver guests to the mid-mountain Saddle area, for full access to the North and East sides. The new trail, when connecting to "Sunway," will offer beginners 1700' vertical feet and 2.2 miles of continuous skiing and riding.
The "Bear Cub Run" beginner trail has been reprofiled to offer a more consistent pitch for learning, and widened by 30'. The trail improvements will make this terrain even more ideal for the first-time skier. The Snow Train conveyor lift for beginners was lengthened by 40', increasing its length by 66%.
The beginner improvements continue as conceptual planning of a new Learning Center has been completed. This building will house all children's learning programs, Bear Cub Den daycare, and rentals, and will be located where the old gondola building currently is.
"Gore Mountain is 100% committed to providing the best family experience possible," said Dave Bulmer, Mountain Services Manager. "The future of our sport lies with children and beginners of all ages, and Gore offers outstanding skiing and riding opportunities for them."
The purchase of a third new groomer in two years will help maintain Gore Mountain's excellent snow conditions. 40 more tower guns and additional fan guns will strengthen Gore Mountain's snowmaking system, which provides for coverage on 97% of skiable terrain.
The popular NASTAR recreational racing program will offer guests a better experience, with a new finish building, updated timing system, and more efficient registration and results.
Base lodge upgrades include a new informational Internet kiosk and a beautiful new entrance to the Tannery Pub & Restaurant.
Results of the October SKI Magazine reader's survey placed Gore Mountain as a "Top 10 Mountain in the East" for Value, Weather, Snow, and Lifts! This is the seventh consecutive year that Gore Mountain has been selected as a Top 10 for Value.
"We are very excited and appreciative of the survey results," said Mountain Manager Mike Pratt. "It's great to see that people have noticed our commitment to offering an outstanding product."
